‘ Oh, sweet Lord of my fairy nights, ’
She’ll call upon my name when the moon rises until I can no longer stay away. The passion in her words, the way she pleaded, melted my cold, unbeating heart.
I left my solitude, my sky, and visited her dreams at night.
Since the father of all things, the Lord Time, gave life to us, immortal Gods as well as dying humans could never touch. He gave us a rule: we, the endless, shall never live among the humans, and mortals never shall leave their spheres. Our existence was above them; they ruled each other, fought and loved, whereas we reign over the skies and seas and every realm that breathed.
But in her dreams, I could reside, so I appeared one night:
‘You called, dear maiden, so I came.’
Her ocean eyes studied me with fear.
‘Are you a demon, a lord of nightmares here to hunt my slumber? I never called for you!’ she stated, determined but fearful.
‘I am Lord Lucifer, the one you call upon each night.’
‘Are you the king, the lord of night? I see upon your head a crown of reeds, your hair is long and black like night, your skin is cold and white, you seem like a dead man with live eyes, like two stars burning from inside.’
‘I am, sweet princess, lord of the dark sky, ruler of stars, my mother is the sea, my father is aether, from my sphere, I followed your heart’s call.’
She smiled and took his cold hand:
‘Then I shall be your bride.’
They kissed with fierce passion, and she took me to her bed. In my long life, nothing ever felt the same.
Days passed since, and every eve, I’ll go and stay until the dawn rays penetrate the night sky, and my stars will go to sleep.
‘My lord, I’ve come to love you, but each night, you scare me with your demon-like appearance, your dark cloak, your sparkly eyes devour me, alive. Your body looks dead, it’s cold and white.’
‘Then I shall come to you in other form, my love, so you’ll feel safe and fine.’ I promised her.
So next dream, I did, my hair was fair, my skin was gold, my crown of reeds became one of stars, but my eyes stayed the same.
‘Are you an Angel that came to bless my dreams?’ she asked that night.
‘I am Lord Lucifer, my love. I came in another form because you asked so sweetly.’
‘Then come my lord, bring me pleasure in my sleep, come kiss me.’
For each night since then, I’ll descend like an angel while she rests, and we’ll make love until the sun appears.
