Tin Girl

An Extreme Horror Story

--

“Shio-chan wouldn’t have said the words of our solemn vow with that thing. When I thought about that, the bitterness in my mouth spread. I couldn’t hold myself back. I can’t stand the thought of a loved one being together with another person. Jealousy. Jealousy

I’m so happy. Since this feeling, this bitterness. Didn’t it spring up from my love of Shio-chan? My first emotion.”

-Said by Sato Matsuzaka in the Manga series Happy Sugar Life. Written and illustrated by Tomiyaki Kagisora

--

This book is dedicated to my best friend Sheena and to the pflag group I am a member of. I hope for Sheena’s sake that she will never read this cause it would scare the shit out of her.

--

Content warnings: Tin Girl is an extreme disturbing story (also sometimes called a splatterpunk) that deals with strong and very dark themes. I believe wholeheartedly that horror is a needed genre because it can talk openly and honestly about topics that need to be talked about. I feel if such serious topics are tackled and not shown in the serious light they deserve then you are making light of the topic at hand.

There are a lot of serious themes in this story that can only be properly handled by horror, because they, to be frank, are horrifying and they should be shown in such a light. But this is also a story about coming out of the closet and embracing both your gender and sexuality. That does mean at times this book can read like a drama. I feel this could turn some readers around and they may really get into the drama and then the horror gets them off guard. Or perhaps they want more horror and they feel the drama slows the pace.

To tell this story right though it needed both. I don’t write my stories for all, I write what I feel needs to be written (but I am just human, I can mess up). That being said it’s okay to not read a story if you think it may trigger you. Your well being is very important and needs to be respected. If you are not up for these topics that’s valid. If you are up for the themes though I think you may actually like this story. I liked writing it.

The content in this story to be aware of that should be warned about includes the fallowing: Extreme violence involving a hammer, extreme violence with a knife. Transphobia (mostly through dead naming, using the wrong pronouns and using gender stereotypes to try and invalidate a person’s gender), queerphobia, sexual assault, light talk about sexual assault involving a minor. Misogyny, seeing people as purely sexual products, dehumanizing through slurs, AI psychosis, extreme violence against animals, and talking about mass shootings.

Some of these themes may hit very hard as there are several scenes within this story that are from the villains’ perspective and in these cases the themes are done harsher because these are horrible people and this is honestly how they would act, sadly. I will fully admit, sometimes I had a hard time writing this book. It went to some places that were hard to handle.

I feel though that at this point we need a story like this, or at least I did. I hope you enjoy reading it and take something of value away from it. Remember, this may be a dark story but it does have good people within it.

This book has several parts that in the plot are said by AI Chat Bots. No AI was used to make this book. All AI Chat Bot dialog was written by myself. I also did not use any AI or AI Chat Bots in the research phase of this story. I have read articles and watched videos made by people with no AI involved about their concerns with AI which is what was used for the research phase.

Freeman I: Levi?

Levss: Iris?

Freeman I: Hey!

Deleted before sending-

Freeman I: And my name’s Henry now. 😊

Levss: Oh hey. How goes it?

Freeman I: I just saw Obsession. It was really good. Like really good.

Levss: Oh, I haven’t heard of that one.

Freeman I: I can send you a trailer.

Levss: Sure, send away.

Freeman I: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=___video___

Levss: Oh damn. That’s like too scary for me. You know I can’t watch stuff like that.

Freeman I: I forgot. It’s been a while since we talked.

Levss: Ya, no shit. Been years. Last time I saw you it was when you were visiting your parents I think right after you got out of college. That was years ago.

Freeman I: Well I got a lot to talk about now. 😉

Levss: Oh? Well I’m curious.

Freeman I: The movie was a date night. I met someone. He’s an actual horror fan, like me.

Levss: May you watch dozens on dozens of scary movies together.

Freeman I: It went well so we might. What’s been going on with you?

Levss: I’m still in Deer Port. Taking care of my dad. He had a stroke.

Freeman I: I’m so sorry to hear about that. That’s horrible. At least your mom can help you out.

Deleted before sending-

Levss: She killed herself.

Levss: She passed away from cancer.

Freeman I: Oh God I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.

Levss: It’s okay. She passed away years back.

Levss: Tell me what this new man is like? And what’s the big city life is like now that you are out of the nothing town of Deer Port?

Freeman I: City life is good. This place actually has a theater. I live in a small apartment, but it lets me have pets and I got a new job just a bit ago.

Levss: You have any pets?

Freeman I: Just one pretty old cat by the name of Amber. She’s still pretty friendly and keeps me company.

Levss: And what’s your job?

Freeman I: I’m an English teacher for a local high school. I’m not the best at it, but it keeps my writing skills alive.

Levss: That’s right, you won first in that writing competition when we were kids.

Freeman I: I sure did. But I actually write scripts for films. Of course none of them actually get turned into movies, but I still use that format.

Levss: Oh? I can’t even write in the regular format. Hehe

Freeman I: Nobody can do anything well at first. All you can do is keep at it.

Levss: Good to hear that you are doing so well. You did the right thing getting out of Deer Port. This place has only gotten smaller since you left.

Freeman I: I expected as much. I couldn’t wait to leave when I was young.

Levss: Can’t blame you at all. Tell me about the guy you saw this scary movie with.

Freeman I: Owen, that’s his name. He’s very nice and a massive nerd. He plays role play games and collects comics. I joined a gaming group he runs and then we went together to the show.

Levss: Well I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. You’ll have to keep me posted on how things go with you two. And I don’t know how to tell you this but you’re a massive nerd too.

Deleted before sending-

Levss: It’s why I always liked you. 😉

“ All right my pretty, have you gotten me the heart of that pesky unicorn? ” I make my voice as shrill as I can get it.

The party’s very dumb, but very strong harpy warrior is currently making a deal with a coven of bone hags; basically, what I’ve made to be this game’s version of a witch coven. It was part of Jack’s character’s back story that she wished to bring back her long lost love, so now I had his character caught up in a resurrection scheme with some witches to bring the dead ex back. Of course, if Jack’s barbarian goes along with this, they are going to be dealing with all sorts of other issues.

The rest of the party, a human wizard, a human ranger, an orc seraph (this game’s version of a cleric), and a fairy druid are all currently spreading around the small cursed cabin that the hags are in to take them down and save their party member. Their Lego minis are stationed around a quickly drawn house outline in the center of a ruffly sketched forest. What the party doesn’t know is the bone hags control most of the wildlife in said woods and the party is about to be ambushed by everything from bears to wolves to cute little bunny rabbits.

“Okay, who of the four of you that are sneaking up on this house has the lowest finesse?” I ask the party. I let my words drip with some dark intent.

“That’s me I think,” the seraph, Berry, points out.

“And who has the best instinct?” I ask.

“Me,” the druid, Asia, chimes in. Her light voice makes herself known well enough.

“Okay, Berry, you are rolling for the party to see how stealthy you all are, and Asia, I want you doing a roll to see how well the party looks around as you surround this cabin.”

They both roll. Their dice scatter along the table but we can tell them apart easy enough.

“I got a six and that’s with fear,” Berry complains bitterly.

“A ten on my side, but it’s also with fear,” Asia mentions, her hand going for the last bit of pizza. It’s a meat lover’s, cheese in the crust. I had ordered it quickly without asking, but they are all eating it nonetheless.

“Ya, the creatures surrounding you right now get the party by surprise. We are going into combat,” I smile, quickly putting down Lego figures to stand in place of the many animals that will be attacking them.

“Oh fuck man,” Berry states, assuming the worst because it’s not exactly clear yet what the Lego stand-ins represent. He likely thinks he’s surrounded right now by killer trees and not killer bunnies.

A knock suddenly hits our door in the real world, not in the three-hour game we got running. It’s a quick little rattle on the door. It’s faint, the fantasy music we got running on my computer almost covers it up, but we hear it nonetheless.

“I’ll check it,” Asia says after taking the last sip of her diet pop. It will mark the third empty can she’ll have by her along with a now empty pizza box.

“Go for it, the rest of you can pray for a quick death,” I laugh. I always overact while running one of my games. It never bothers anyone.

Asia gets up and sprints to the front door of the apartment. She moves swiftly on her feet, clearly wanting to get back to the game. Her black dreads are eye catching as they move with her body, and I glance her way as she dashes. I take her in, though I’m not looking at her hair, I’m getting a quick glance of her slightly too short jeans. She’s twenty, the youngest of the group, and she has a girlfriend. I think they’re a cute couple. Asia’s face could use a wash up and she could handle some makeup lessons. She liked to look like a Tomboy but she was trying far too hard. If it wasn’t for her chest I would have thought she was just one of the guys, despite the jeans. They sure do look good on her; make her stand out in all the right ways.

Her girlfriend on the other hand? Pretty opposite and dresses oh so fancy. Asia is kind of out of her ball park. I’ve seen her visit here once or twice just to check in on things, but she refuses to join the game. I’ve never pushed anyone to be a player, not about to start.

Asia grabs the door knob to open it and I’m still slightly glancing at her shorts. I try to hide this of course. She opens the door quickly, wanting to get back to the game.

“The music, it’s kind of loud,” a faint voice moves into the room from just outside in the hall.

“Our bad. We were just very into the game,” Asia explains as she backs away and lets the new person inside. Asia then wanders over to my computer and turns it down.

I had to pay for YouTube Premium so we could get rid of the ads during the music. The fuckers were charging me way too much, but I did what I needed to for the good of the game.

“Game?” the stranger asked. Dressed in a black and heavy sweater that would be boiling now for today. Rather short blond hair just tapped the top of their neck, combed back in a fashion that was simple and direct. Thick glasses rested on their sharp little nose, and I mean thick . The glasses must have been discounted from some second-rate nerd character in an anime rerun. A round and short body with a slightly dorky face despite being clearly pretty late twenties. A nice chest on them though. The sweater may have been trying to get in the way but it was failing. I could still imagine myself trying to get a handful of one of them. Yes, trying to be modest, I get the sweater, but this is my mind you are reading right now, deal with it.

“It’s Daggerheart. Well, kind of. We’ve crammed so much homebrew into it that it’s kind of it’s own thing at this point,” Asia said with a smile, sounding a bit like a chipmunk.

“Daggerheart?” the newcomer asked.

“Dungeons And Dragons kind of game. You roll dice and improvise what you think your character would do,” I say.

“Oh, got ya,” the stranger stated back with a bright smile.

“Name’s Asia. That’s Owen, our game master, and the rest of the group is Berry, Danny and Jack,” Asia introduced everyone and we all waved back in turn.

“Henry,” the newcomer said.

There was a pause.

“Pronouns he and him,” Henry added.

Okay, they’re trans. I note this to myself like I note a lot of things. Just call her by the pronouns that she wants. It’s not hard and for the love of God don’t comment on her tits. Obviously I keep all comments on women’s body parts to myself as well as I can. I don’t catcall; I’m a gentleman.

“I’ve always been curious about playing a game like that. I watched a lets-play a few times, but it was a different system,” Henry said.

“We can handle a sixth party member. We play every Saturday starting at four. Games go typically to seven, but sometimes can drag on till eight if we got a hard boss, which I think we got this time,” Asia explains.

“Oh, cool,” Henry smiled.

“You can sit in on this game, see if you like it,” I point out.

“Oh, I can?” Henry asked.

“Ya, have a seat,” I offer.

Henry sits down beside Asia who promptly hands her a diet coke. Him, his pronouns are he and him.

“Talon will have his pet cheetah, Amber, check the woods first. You know, scout the area,” I say. I was playing a katari ranger with an animal companion. Katari are like cat people or so the artwork in the core book for Daggerheart suggests.

It was my first game with them. I had taken a lot of notes last time I sat in on the game and had read the rules ‘kind of’ on the weeks in-between. I also watched a full YouTube breakdown on the thing.

Owen was running the game again, having us do what he was saying was going to be an easy quest so I could get used to a level one character. The rest of the group was level three and I was supposed to try to level up my character to that before we had the next game. It made my head spin a little. This was a lot more complicated then the actual system I had been first curious about, but I felt like I was handling things well enough. It did feel like they were indeed taking it easy on me, so I wasn’t going to let them down.

There was a lost kid we were searching for in the woods, likely someone else the bone hags had kidnapped. They were still doing a very skilled job of avoiding the party after the group had failed in their attack on their cabin. Owen set up the scene in the forest with skill and a bit of class.

“Henry, the woods you are in is a dash of bright reds with a chilled breeze running through it. Due to the falling leaves it’s hard for your pet Amber to pick up on any prey. You can roll for them to look through the place, but it’s at disadvantage,” he points out.

A dragon eating a princess stared at me from Owen’s right shoulder. Green scales and a long tongue, wrapping tightly around a pretty generic ‘fair’ maiden. It was a tattoo that was clearly to be read in a slightly sexual way, though thankfully it wasn’t too extreme. A Wonder Woman symbol tattoo was on the back of his right palm; a bright yellow ‘W’ with multiple layers. Lastly a great sword was marked onto his chest. The handle just touched the bottom of his neck with the rest of the blade going downwards. Said sword was mostly covered by a sleeveless white shirt that showed off the fact that he worked out at the gym an unhealthy amount and could lift up most people with a single one of his hands. His ears were pierced with little golden studs and his eyes were a dirt brown, matching his wavy hair that he didn’t seem to take care of. I knew he was trying to look good, that did not take a high-end intelligence. My eyes were drawn to him the first time we met, but now that it was a third time and, as I was getting used to him, my eyes were more focused on taking in his apartment. He did not keep the place as put-together as mine.

People, some people, it’s on the uncommon side, stand out to me when I first meet them, but they have a habit of fading into the background. I’m on the ‘antisocial’ side of things. You would think that would have made me join a role-playing group a lot sooner but I guess I’m just not that smart.

For my socials I do have a cat. She’s a very old one, had a health scare a bit ago and is missing an eye from it and she is way too thin. Named her Amber, just like my cheetah in the game.

There is also Betty, my longtime best bud from my high school days. We had parted when I had moved away from Deer Port, but we happened to run into each other again out of pure luck. I’m glad to have her. I haven’t gotten to know anyone at the school where I work and this apartment kind of has a vibe where everyone just kind of does their own thing.

My apartment I do keep pretty clean. Other then a litter box that I had ignored last night, the place is mostly spotless. Cleaning up you see, it relaxes me. That and script writing, purely for hobby’s sake. Owen relaxes by working out and gaming, that much is pretty clear. His apartment is as good as he needs it. Nobody is complaining.

The other difference in my apartment is that it has a few movie posters set up around it. They make it feel more like home. I’ve got Hellraiser, Cabin In The Woods, Evil Dead the remake (I realize it’s an add-on to the series and not a remake, calm down), and ABCs of Death. Each one is on a different wall showing off their glory. A cheap TV and a Blu-ray player are set up for a show with one of the most well-used couches and the most inexpensive lazy-boys that you can get. It’s a nice place to live: of course it is, I’m paying for it.

Other then Owen’s apartment and the slight mess about us with pop cans and some dirty dishes this group of people I’m with seems pretty nice. Asia and me are getting along pretty well, her showing off pictures of her girlfriend and her out at a concert. Berry did slip once on my gender, but he corrected himself without me having to. Owen, he keeps things well ordered. He knows how to run a good game and I’m fully enjoying myself.

“And that’s a fourteen to search the woods, but it’s not with fear or hope, the two dice both rolled the same number,” I say after I make my roll. Ya, the game system has you roll two twelve-sided dice.

“That’s a crit! Despite the leaves your cheetah Amber can see that there is a small gang of goblins trying to hide among the trees. Your pet cat can see them, but they can’t see her, so you can attack them by surprise,” Owen declares.

And now we are in combat. Berry gets up and quickly changes the music on the computer to some old eighties action-movie score. I clock it instantly as the beat from Predator and have a little smile.

The fight moves swifter then I expect and soon there is only one little goblin left. He has some kind of magical staff in his hand and he’s trying to keep everyone in the party at bay by shooting bits of fire at us. It’s pretty dangerous because we are in the woods with leaves covering the ground and Owen stresses how a fire could start. I don’t risk it and my cheetah makes the killing blow once they can.

“And Amber’s teeth grind into the goblin’s head. He screeches out and then goes still, his staff falling to the ground,” Owen says. “But with the last goblin dead it means you can’t ask any of them for information on the lost child.”

I slap the top of my head lightly in a comical fashion and the rest of the table has a bit of a chuckle.

“We’re calling the game here,” Owen then states.

“And that’s how you play Daggerheart,” Asia smiles at me.

Everyone starts packing up. When I stand to get going I see Owen flash me a call me gesture. When I do later that night he asks me about the film Obsession. Obviously and blatantly I want to see it. It looks exactly like my kind of movie in every way. He says he’s going out himself to check it in theaters. I ask if I can go with him and he then agrees. It’s only later that I even realize he may have asked me out on a date.
