Author's Preface

The signs for Kilbaha Lighthouse are in view now and at this hour the sun will set, stars will dot the black sky. highly romantic place for couples to walk and watch the scenery, whether day or nighttime. A place where people have been widely known to shag if the mood is set right. It had been sometime since she last took a hike this way, but she is glad that she didn't wear something super frilly. Apparently, he planned a whole little picnic outing. In his trunk, he had a cooler full of what he promises are snacks and a backpack with unknown goodies. She helps him with the cooler. It is heavier than anticipated. What the hell did he pack in here?
It didn't matter, with all his excitable energy, he presses onward. She is dragged most of the way, and since it is slowly getting darker outside, it slows their pace. It isn't like she can’t see with her werewolf vision, but for him he might have been more focused on not tripping. Now that he had her as company, his chivalrous nature amps up even so much as asking her to follow him so she won't trip.
Cute. There is a spot that was special for Leas. He led her towards the most secluded cliffside, one that was close to the lighthouse, enough to light their path but far enough so no one can see them. He must want their alone time badly, even threatening to mope if someone else took their spot. Luckily, no such thing happens. Laying a very large beach towel over the grassy patch. Close enough to the cliff to watch the sky change to a new color, nighttime, and they can hear the lapping of the sea. Such a peaceful sight, she really felt in her element. Her wolf side stirs for release. When her wolf side imagines an outcome where she pins the unsuspecting man to the ground to have her way with him, it right away causes her to quake in confusion. It’s scary. Her wild side had been the butt of her problems.
What is wrong with me?
"Come sit down next to me, Idonea." His voice raids her ears, and she whips around to look. He places plates of club sandwiches, avocado salads, and many more on the beach towel. He packed enough food to feed more than just two people. Her mind wanders back to how much he ate for breakfast and asks while moving to sit by him. "Do you normally eat this much?"
"Haha, just like you, I put in a lot of effort to keep physically fit. It makes me very…voracious." The last words that slip between his lips follows a gaze that skims over her frame. What is he on about?
She catches a whiff of his lust again and snarls, “Man. Was your sweet little demeanor an act for your fans?"
"Haha. I am passionate, not innocent." He offers her a plate full of food. This is where he smiles sheepishly, "Let me know what you think of the food. I prepared them myself."
She studies the food while gaping. He made all this? She just assumes that he had gotten the catering done or even had a servant make it for him. He had culinary skills, but did the food taste as good as it looks? She takes a couple of bites and the flavor melts on her expectant tongue. Better than she had ever predicted.
"It's good." She devours her portion, not noticing him pull a wine bottle out from the backpack. It is a bottle of Brown Brothers orange muscat and flora that he waves at her direction offering to serve her some.
"Would you like a cup?" He uncorks it and pours himself his cup.
"Sure…so you like wine?" She inquires while watching him pour in another wooden cup. Even though she can't get drunk, these drinks still taste very good to her. After finishing her third sandwich, she grabs the full cup and taste the first sip. The sweetness that comes from the grapes of the wine tends to bring warmth to her heart.
"Not only do I like it, but I attend wine tasting events." He said this with a straight face, eating and washing down the food with his serving of wine.
I wonder if he will get drunk.
"Hmm. Cool." Nea’s eyes trace over his tattoos the whole time. Knowing the meaning of each one. It is like the one on her chest that stands for Thor's hammer with a bobble head of a wolf. Leas didn't see her staring, finishing his share of the meal and drinking his first serving of wine. He pours himself another cup while she is still working on hers. His freckly cheeks are pink due to being drunk. Not a single bit, he saw her admiring the tattoos all along his tense forearms and smiles. "Oh…did something catch your eye?"
"Your tattoos. I am familiar with the meanings."
"Oh. If that's the case-" Leas extends his arm out to her. With the motion of his eyes, he insists that she touch the tattoos. "Tell me what you know."
Being teased enough to not care what it meant if she touches him, she became competitive. She lived a long time, long enough to remember the use of these symbols. If anything, this human might have the wrong origins. Her free hand traces the simple lines of his tattoos. His skin is undeniably tender and warm to the touch. The first symbol’s meaning slips out of her pink lips, "You have here a Younger Furthark rune for úr or snow…"
Her fingertips trails on it some, ignoring the blushing expression on his face. He is finishing his second cup of wine when she moves to the next tattoo on his forearm. This one is just above the rune of úr and is most notable for being…"This one's lagu…meant to represent water-"
So engross in explaining, she didn't notice that he leans in to watch her. His face so close that he might be able to hear her heart race when he said, "You are doing a wonderful job at seducing me."
Her gaze flit from his forearm to his now remarkably close face, gulping a handful of saliva. She releases his arm, stiff underneath his gaze "I don't know why…I did that."
"Don't worry. I liked every second of it. And you are very…knowledgeable about the runes." He leans in even closer, putting his empty cup to the side. This close, she can smell every aspect of him. From the sweet aroma she can't get enough of, to the smell of lust, and even the alcohol he drank mix with hers. His freckly cheeks are pink, but he did not appear drunk making her suspect that the cause of it isn’t alcohol related. He smells really good, so good that every part of her burns and aches for him. Like a drug, her body starts to quake for him. She never ever felt like this to anyone in her lifetime and she had been with a few humans to itch the scratch that she can’t reach. No one made her want this outcome so badly that it hurt to push away. Who was he?
"Idonea…?" He touches the side of her face; his hand is so gentle that it broke her stupid pride.
The lust spills over her, clouding her mind and better judgment. She leans in, claiming his lips that taste of wine. He did not fight her, humming between their wrestling tongues. His aroma fills her every orifice, and it powers her to keep going till she is on top of him, violating his mouth and grinding against his hard groin between their layers of pants. Her heart races just thinking of ways to remove his and her clothing as soon as possible. When her lungs need oxygen, she regrettably pulls away from him, seeing the mesmerized look on his face. He pants away, running his fingers beneath her shirt, touching her skin on the curve of her waist. "Idonea…"
Whispering her name only triggers her hunger, amping up her bucking. She is too lost in the thrill to stop it, her body burning to claim him as her own. The arousal dampens the underwear she wears, and the musk of his lust fills her nostrils to tickle this insane primal instinct.
He is mine.
"...your eyes? Are they glowin-" His expression changes to confusion, which really drops the activities completely. It wakes her up from her lustful possession.
Wait…No no no! It isn’t just her eyes that were changing, but her skin pimples are a sign of transformation. She gets right up and paces away from him. This is no good! ?
She hurries off to the cliffside, hyperventilating. If he finds out that she is a werewolf, she is done for. Why is her wolf being so aggressive this time around? Did she not exercise enough? It had been a while since she last had intimacy but that never was a problem before. Leas…is dangerous!
"Idonea! What's wrong?!" The man that had struck so much chaos within her, invades her bubble. His shirt is stretched from her manhandling, and he still had a hard bulge beneath his jeans. But anxiety is what she smells, not lust. Whatever kind of playfulness on his face vanishes, and he actually for once looks serious . Is he concerned?
No! "I am so sorry, Leas. I am not as genuine as you like to think…" She crosses her arms, out pacing him. If he gets too close, he will see her as she is, which is her sanity crumbling underneath the wild side. Calm yourself.
But she can't calm herself. She just did exactly what he had to deal with daily, she just tried to use him for her own selfish gratification.
"Okay. Just stay with me, we can talk about this…" Leas sounds desperate, his hand reaching out to her. He smiles beautifully and his voice is so soothing.
His scent stirs the beast within her; she kept her face away from him. Her tongue ran over the sharp teeth that shape over her normal ones. "No. No. I can talk from here. I…may have had too much to drink and I need a little time and space."
If she chances a glance his way and notice his pained face. The very same pout that might persuade her. Just keep your eyes on the horizon, Nea.
The horizon is a dark, mysterious void, promising an endless journey. It glitters just like the stars above; the waves crashing against the rocky cliffside. All this serene nature helps her curve that aggressive lust.
"I might have been wrong about bringing wine on this date…let me at least take you home." She can hear him close in, her heart racing crazy at his closeness. Something is different this time, guilt laces in his voice and it smashes her lustful rage. It is easier to concentrate on priorities when she cares enough not to hurt his feelings.
Oh no. Her gaze whips over to him, studying his downcast look. So beautiful still, but sullen. A lonely color melds into his purple eyes, the same loneliness she will hear in his voice.
Her mouth parts to speak, stopping just because her sharp teeth haven't transformed back. She clamps her mouth shut and nods. Figuring the only best outcome is to comply. Going home will give her the chance she needs to turn into a wolf to shake this off. He sighs in relief, slacking his shoulders. "Come then. Let's pack up quickly and head off."
No further time is wasted; they pack up the picnic in silence. Neither one of them is bold enough to talk about what transpired. Even the car ride back is full of silence. The strain on his face made her crave to do something but her teeth never revert. At least her eyes are more human. It just made things exceedingly difficult on the ride back. They arrive at the apartment; he bade her goodbye from the driver's side window. He looks so lost and sad that it sears her heart even though this might be for the best. Some irrational side of her compels her to do one thing. She got close to the driver's side window. Then she leans in to kiss him on the forehead, her face hot with embarrassment soon after. Idonea didn't take the time to see his face, running away with a hurried 'See you later' .
