Under the Crimson Moon

KIRA’S POV

My room was a mess—clothes scattered everywhere, makeup tools left open, and random props lying around—but it was all intentional. The lighting was dim, almost pitch black except for the soft glow of a single lamp. It gave off the perfect eerie atmosphere I needed for my vampire-themed photoshoot.

I carefully adjusted the plastic fangs in my mouth, making sure they sat perfectly over my teeth. I leaned closer to the mirror, tilting my head from side to side, checking every angle.

Damn… I looked so good.

The red contact lenses made my almond-shaped eyes look sharp and dangerous. My nose looked more defined with contour, and my lips that painted in deep, bloody red—were irresistible and sexy. My skin looked pale under the lighting, almost lifeless, just like a real vampire.

“I love this,” I whispered to myself, smirking.

I grabbed my camera and set the timer, then quickly ran to my setup before it snapped. Over and over again, I repeated the process—click, run, pose.

Each pose was more daring than the last—seductive glances, parted lips, fingers grazing my neck like I was craving blood. I embodied everything I imagined a female vampire to be: dangerous, alluring, untouchable.

After dozens of shots, I finally checked the results—and I couldn’t help but grin.

I looked insanely hot.

Leaving the mess in my room as it was, I grabbed my phone and began editing. I adjusted the brightness just enough so the photos wouldn’t look too dark but still kept that mysterious, gothic vibe. Once satisfied, I uploaded them on Instagram.

I stared at my own photos for a while, admiring every detail.

God… I really looked like a real vampire.

Ever since I started reading novels and watching movies about vampires, I couldn’t deny it—it became my biggest fantasy. I wanted to be one. Not just any vampire… I wanted to be turned by someone powerful, someone breathtakingly gorgeous.

A king.

I let out a sigh and lightly slapped my cheek.

“Stop it, Kira. You’re being delusional.”

Shaking my head, I decided to distract myself. I set up a horror movie marathon instead. I prepared snacks like I always did—freshly popped popcorn, a simple salad, and a glass of iced matcha.

One movie turned into two… then three… then four.

I was so immersed that I completely lost track of time.

I was casually chewing on my salad, eyes glued to the screen, when—

“ DIE!”

“Fuck!” I choked violently as my matcha went up my nose. “What the hell?!”

That scream caught me completely off guard. I thought the main character was going to survive—it was already the ending—but in the end, she died.

No one survived.

I stared at the blank screen as the credits rolled, my heart still racing. Then I reached for the remote and turned off the TV.

Despite the ending, I had to admit—it was a good movie. Terrifying, intense, and unpredictable. I even left a review, rating it highly and recommending it.

When I glanced at the clock, my eyes widened.

3:00 AM.

And yet… I wasn’t sleepy at all.

Restless, I decided to step outside for some air. Our house stood near a forest, but it was considered safe—no dangerous animals, nothing to worry about.

Or so I thought.

The night air was cold as it brushed against my skin. I wrapped my arms around myself slightly as I looked up.

The full moon hung high in the sky, glowing brightly, illuminating everything around me in a pale silver light. It was beautiful… almost hypnotizing.

I was so lost in its beauty that I didn’t notice when something felt… off.

The color of the moon—was it changing? It was changing to pink to bright crimson moon.

Before I could fully process it, a strong gust of wind hit me, making my hair whip across my face.

Then—

A gunshot.

My heart dropped.

Fear shot through my body as I immediately ducked behind a nearby tree, pressing myself against its rough bark. My breathing became uneven, and I could hear my heartbeat pounding loudly in my ears.

Then I heard it.

A voice.

People are… begging for help.

My entire body froze. My hands trembled uncontrollably, and I couldn’t even find the strength to stand. My mind screamed at me to run, but fear glued me in place.

Slowly, I forced myself to peek.

But the moment I saw what was happening—

I shut my eyes tightly, panic surging through me. I silently prayed, begging for my life… and for whoever that person was.

“Didn’t I tell you… you will all die tonight?”

Gunshots rang out again, one after another, echoing through the forest.

Silence followed.

Then—

Footsteps.

Slow. Heavy. Getting closer.

Closer to me.

My breath hitched.

I forced my eyes open.

And that’s when I saw him.

A man stood just a few feet away—tall, broad-shouldered, and his presence overwhelming.

But it wasn’t his height that terrified me.

It was his eyes.

They were glowing red.

Not like contact lenses.

Not fake.

Real.

And terrifying.

A chill ran down my spine.

Adrenaline suddenly kicked in, snapping me out of my frozen state. Without thinking, I pushed myself up and ran as fast as I could, my feet stumbling against the uneven ground. There's no way I'm going to die in the hands of that asshole!

I have so many dreams! Get married and have children with a vampire!

I bit my lips so hard and my hands felt so cold even though I'm sweating. I run harder and faster.

I didn’t look back.

I didn’t dare.

I reached our house and slammed the door shut behind me, locking it—once, twice—then rushing to secure all the windows.

Only when everything was locked did I collapse against the door.

"Holy shit!" That was all I can say.

My body was shaking uncontrollably.

My chest rose and fell rapidly as I struggled to breathe I even coughed so hard and I barely can breath.

And one thought kept repeating in my mind—

Those eyes… obviously are real. A glowing red.

He is not a human.
