Tawney:

Hey there! 👋👋 👋👋👋👋

Danni:

Hey, what’s up?

Tawney:

U won’t believe this! 🧐🤔

Danni?

What?

Tawney:

Daddy’s taking me 2 Africa! 🤩🇿🇦🌍

Danni:

That’s great! Which part? I’ve always wanted to check it out. You’ll have to tell me all about it.

Tawney:

C this is Y I messaged U.

Danni:

Oh?

Tawney:

I need a BIG BIG flavour! 🤪🙏

*Favour!

Ducking autocorrect!

*Fucking

I hate this phone! Don’t know why I bought it!

Danni:

Didn’t you just get a new phone? Did something happen to it?

Tawney:

Dropped it in the bath, so pissy about that!!! Had to get this one! 😡 🤬

Danni:

That’s unfortunate, but there’s supposed to be this rice hack?

Tawney:

I don’t have time for that! 🤪 Look, listen, I just bought this place, up in this weird village I can’t pronounce, don’t ask me!!! 🤮 I did it all up and I was thinking that I could turn it into a B&B! BUT with this trip, I can’t stick around to keep it clean and organised and shit and I was thinking that you were so good at cleaning our dorm room, you’d be perfect! I’ll even pay you! 💷💷 PROMISE! It’ll just be for the month! I promise! When I get back, I can take care of everything else, I just need you to watch over the place while I’m gone!!!

Danni:

Wait, what? Tawns, I don’t understand? I can’t up and leave, especially not to a place I don’t know anything about!

Tawney:

Don’t worry! I’ve sorted it all out! I knew you’d say yes!

Danni:

But... I didn’t?

Tawney:

Details, details! I’ve got you your train ticket 🚊🚇🚝 and I’ve hired these guys to get your stuff there, I know you love your books and all that. 📚📘📕👩‍🏫📓 I even paid extra so they’ll be EXTRA careful with your stuff. You just need to catch the train and then this guy, I don’t know, think he’s local, he’ll take you up to the house. There’s even this totes amazeballs place by the station where you can wait! No charge! I’m even sending you all this stuff about the house 🏡🏠🧹 so you know where everything is! How great is that! Thanks!

Subject: A Housesitting Opportunity

Hello mother,

I hope that this message finds you well and that you are enjoying your trip. How have your meetings been going? Fruitful, I hope. I have heard that Sweden is beautiful in the winter.

I would like to inform you that Tawney has sent me a message with a job offer. She is offering a month-long opportunity to watch over a location she has purchased and requires that I travel to watch over it for a time whilst she is on a trip. I am currently unclear on how much she intends to pay me for this but she has made arrangements for me to travel to the location in question in a week. A moving company will be coming to collect my things in a few days.

Please send my warmest greetings to father.

Sincerely,

Daniella

To Future Danni

So… it’s been a while, huh? I didn’t think that I would need to put pen to paper like this again, but it’s hit the fan. In truth, I didn’t want to do this at all, but I remember Dr. Morris telling me to write one of these whenever I was feeling trapped again. So…

Tawney’s up to her usual shenanigans. She just dumped this ‘job’ on me and now… I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. She wants me to take a train up to this town in the middle of nowhere and watch over this house she bought and… I’m stuck. That’s the truth of it, I’m stuck. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do about this. She’s already bought the tickets and dropped this file on me like a grenade thrown into a flock of pigeons.

…That’s a pretty good analogy. Maybe I could try and use that? Thoughts for later.

I don’t really have much of a choice. I’m writing this in the train station with a single suitcase, my shoulder bag and a headache. I’m leaving behind a bare room, cleared by this group of muscular men marched in and marched out with all my books packed up into boxes. It really doesn’t help that January is going to be freezing up there in the country. Tawney sent this packet of information all about this damn place but there’s just this one line about the heating. ‘Place logs in slot under the shed’. There wasn’t anything about where I was supposed to find these logs, what the system was, anything! I swear, that woman is crazy! She’s out of her damn mind!

I feel bad about saying it but she’s insane. Why did she have to rope me into her madness? I’ll have to send a message when I arrive… This headache is only going to get worse before it gets better, isn’t it?

At least the train seat is first class, right?

It’s the little things.

Mother is going to explode. I can tell. She kept bitching at me about getting out of the house but you know that she’ll keel over when she finds out about this. She can’t seem to make up her damn mind! She’s always going on at me about getting a job and getting out of the house but as soon as I find one, she talks me out of it. It’s like she can’t stand the sight of us yet doesn’t want to let me go. You know father is all but useless in this.

I need to get onto the train now. I can see the clock ticking down to it.

Let me know how it goes in the future. I’ve got this scheduled to send in a month and I’m hoping that we have something to say rather than Tawney was a pain in the ass, mother is out of her mind and we’re so bored, we’ve been locked in a loony bin.

See you in a… month. I’ll see you in a month .
