Chapter 2

Zach's POV

I don't know what happened... why am I here in his body? And it's been a week since that cruise incident. I only wanted to finish my mission, so why did all of this happen? Where and when did it start to go wrong? This is different from where I saved someone before. What is really going on?

I was trying to piece everything together when I heard her call me again.

"Hey! I need a hand. Come on! You're supposed to do this not me. Please use your body right." she keeps nagging at me. And it's not my fault that I don't know how to do this and that. Uhm, partly yeah? Well. I sighed.

"Are you coming or not?" she warned.

"Alright. Alright. Teach me." I told her.

"What?! You don't know how to do this? How do you have a body like that and not know how to do this? Come on. You know how to exercise right?" she snarled at me, annoyed.

I hugged my body and looked at her like I can't believe she said that. Ugh! Yeah, I forgot she's clueless who I am right now. Fine, fine. I began to walk closer to her and grabbed the axe from her hand. I was confused when she didn't leave and her palm is waiting for me to hand her something.

"What?" I asked.

"Your coat. Hand it to me."

"Excuse me?" I asked in confusion.

"I said, your coat. Hand it to me. You don't want to ruin that coat while axing. Right?" Oh? Okay. Then, I put down the axe and started undressing the coat.

"Your tie as well." I didn't respond to her and just gave her the coat and tie.

"Happy?" she just gave me a mocking smile and left me there. Annoyed, I grabbed the axe and started doing the work.

Meanwhile, she's gone from my sight. Probably, starting to prepare for food. And I'm here, alone, trying to figure out how this works. Because, I never did things like this in heaven. Huhu. I only know how to save a life, guide a soul back to heaven, teach some words of wisdom. But these? Even my powers don't work in this body. sighs.

For a second, my grip tightened around the axe—not because I wanted to…but because my body did.

I froze.

That wasn’t me.

Heize's POV

It's been a week after the accident in the cruise. And with this guy that seemed different from the first time I encountered him at the ship. Well, maybe he bumped his head in a stone while floating to the shore, but who cares? He looks like someone who has experience but look at him just now.

I am watching him from inside the abandoned hut we are staying at the moment. He looks annoyed from what he's doing. Trying to figure out how to use the axe to chop the woods. Then suddenly, he puts the axe down, unbuttons his shirt and folds his sleeves up to his elbows. Those veiny arms—and that sexy collarbone. I swallowed hard at the sight. He brushed up of his hair and grabs the axe on the sand and started chopping wood again.

But can't even chop the wood right. Ugh! Looks dumb. Can't even use his body right. Here I am, shaking my head. What a waste of body.

Well, I started preparing for the food instead of watching him. I almost got carried away from his looks when he's this dumb. sighs. Such a waste. Really.

--

Before I lost more brain cells watching him, I grabbed my basket and left for the market where they sell the fresh fish here. With a basket on my hand and vegetables in it. I'll trade these to get some fish. Well, I don't have money to buy for something, but these people are kind enough to let me make trade. At least, the skills I learned from working at sales department before didn't die down when I was in prison. This is not the start I look forward to but being with people that doesn't know me is much better.

An almost hour total I was gone, I'm finally back. I am tired and exhausted but it's fine. Looking at him that's still not yet done chopping woods, I still have time to wash these and prepare, maybe by that time he's done. I hope so.

Minutes passed and I am done preparing, I walk towards him to gather some chopped woods that can be used so I can start cooking.

"Hey. I'm back. I'll just get some of these..." He looked at me and just nodded while he wiped that sweat from his forehead.

Ugh. How can he be that sexy and dumb at the same time? I'm irritated. I'm heading back towards the hut when he called me out.

"Hey. Can I rest for a while? I... I'm tired."

"Yeah. Yeah. Fine. But you have to finish that before the sun sets. We need woods for later tonight."

"Gotcha."

As we continued at what we supposed to do, and the food is finally done, we started to eat. And I began to get curious about him again.

"I was just curious. I know for a fact that you are rich or somewhat... known or I don't know. Were your family wasn't that curious you're gone?" I asked him, while eating with my bare hands.

"To be honest. I don't know." he replied as he eats with his bare hands as well.

"What do you mean you don't know? Like you don't know if they're looking? Or you lost a memory? Did you really bump your head in a big rock or what?"

"Like, I really don't know. Clueless." he shrugged.

"If you're that clueless, maybe we can sell your clothes to have some mon—"

"What? NO." he interrupted me and got choked.

"Tss. I was just suggesting okay? Have some water. Tsk. Tsk. We can't forever do the trade here. The vegetables we have are slowly gone, using them for food everyday. Besides, we don't know when you'll be found by your family. At least, give me money when you're found, so I can start here." I told him.

"Hey... you okay?" I asked him when I noticed him spacing out.

"Hey? Devin!" I yelled his name.

"Oh? Yeah? I think... I remembered something." then he mumbles something I didn't quite hear. But nevermind.

"Remember what? That you're really that rich rich?"

"Yeah." He answered me flatly. Should I believe that? Maybe yeah? I mean... he looks like he really has that a lot of money.

"What about you?" I didn't expect him to ask me that right away. Out of nowhere. My hand froze mid-air, still holding a piece of fish.

"What about me?" I repeated, buying time. He nodded.

"You said we don't know when my family will come find me. So... what about you? Shouldn't they be looking for you too?" I forced a smile and put down of the fish on my plate.

"No. Nobody's looking for me. Not even worth the trouble." I shoved more food into my mouth, hoping he'd drop the subject.

I felt a sharp stare at me. Quiet. Observing.

"Are you in trouble?"

"Stop being nosy." I answered shutting his curiosity.

"Woah. Okay. I'm not gonna ask you anymore." he said while surrendering his hands up.

"Finish your food now. You still have a lot of woods to chop." He didn't answer, but I felt his eyes on me as I stood up. For the first time in a week, something in that gaze wasn't clueless or dumb.

Fast forward...

Hours passed and it's already dark outside, time to sleep. I lay down on the bed we shared. It was actually big enough for two, and since this is only bed in this hut we, decided to share but with a big cloth in the middle to divide it. I blew the candle beside me and ready to take my sleep.

But sleep didn’t come easily.

Something about him—felt wrong.

I'm a light sleeper ever since I was in the prison, so even it's just a faint sound I'll wake up from it. I heard a sound coming from his side, like he's having a hard time breathing.

I looked at his side, confused. I know there's a big cloth dividing our side so I tried to listen to him carefully. And when I confirmed, it was really from him, I called him out.

"Devin?"

"Are you awake?"

Zach's POV

Darkness. As I looked around everywhere, I can't see anything but just myself.

Wait, no. Not myself.

It's Devin. It's Devin's body but I know I am in his body.

I tried to take a step. Slowly. Then, I run. It's still dark everywhere I go but it seems my feet know where to go. I gasped for air as I stopped running for a while.

A screech sound was heard from behind, but there's nothing when I looked back. I turned around again as I felt something at my back.

I saw a mirror. I stared at the reflection of myself in the mirror. And there, I saw my true form, not Devin's.

Then the image changed into Devin's. It's like corrupted as it glitches the image between me and him. I tried to touch the mirror but the image faded into a scene.

The scene under the water, where I tried to negotiate with Devin.

The moment I thought I saved him. But now…

I’m starting to think I didn’t.
