In the year 2379, an experiment was carried out by the Quantum Energy Research Commission (QERC) in which they built the quantum singularity reactors, which were an alternative to fossil fuels. They created energy by the quantum fusion of two parallel dimensions, but the experiment failed and an accident occurred, which created a rift between two dimensions. From that dimension came the Nether, beasts of darkness made of corrupted energy. They started devouring humans and millions died. The remaining governments merged to form a government called The Dominion. The Dominion instantly started an experiment to combat the Nether because no conventional weapons were effective against them. As a result, the Eclipse Cells were created—cells which granted people supernatural abilities to combat the Nether
