Aspen has been living in a treehouse she cannot remember building. She is searching for whatever keeps erasing her memory. She calls them fairies. To keep herself intact, she has built a system: red for facts, green for wants, and blue for answers. The world keeps putting blue where questions end: clear sky, deep water. So when blue mold appears around a gap in her floor, Aspen knows where to look for an answer. Her Mother’s hand reaches through. Her Mother always kept her nails red, but the floor had no right to know where the polish chipped. The next time Aspen wakes, she finds a village living inside a massive dying tree—and herself inside the body of Lyra, a moth-winged girl whose dreams had already made room for her. Lyra had been looking for answers too, fluent in a grammar of color and shape Aspen had barely begun to understand. For six nights, Lyra dreamed of gray swing sets, wingless people displaced into her tree, and a red figure climbing toward her. She decided that if it had to come somewhere, it would come to her. Whatever Lyra did failed to close the breach. It changed where the breach lives. By the second day, gray remnants of Aspen's old world begin appearing around her: colorless tufts of her brother's hair caught in the god-tree's wood. She has seven days. Seven to understand what Lyra did. Seven to stop the worlds from bleeding into one another. Seven to figure out whether she even wants to. ★ What to expect: - Close, unreliable POV where memory gaps and bodily reactions are evidence you cannot ignore. - Deeply alien high-fantasy with inter-world connections. Transmigration matters on both ends. - A character-first metaphysical mystery in which color, geometry, blood, names, and grammar carry physical consequences. - A society whose speech distinguishes a body from the consciousness claiming its actions, and a name from whoever is permitted to answer. Aspen does not understand these forms at first; readers learn them with her, and no glossary study is required.
